PROFESSOR HENRY IRIBE

Classes
Toddlers, Kids, Adults

Professor Henry began his journey in the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu back in 2008, and over the years, he has achieved the esteemed rank of 1st degree black belt. He was not only dedicated to his own training but also played a vital role as one of the founding members of 1802 Jiu-Jitsu, which was initially known as Stronghold Rancho Bernardo. During its early days, the academy held classes at the local recreation center, where it fostered a strong sense of community and camaraderie among its members.

Professor Henry has had tremendous and noteworthy success in the highly competitive BJJ competition scene. Over the years, he has posted impressive wins against several IBJJF World Champions, is recognized as a Pan Am Champion, and has medaled in just about every major IBJJF tournament in both the adult and master divisions, showcasing his remarkable skills and dedication. Additionally, he has played an instrumental role in creating numerous champions, both kids and adults, thanks in part to his technical expertise and a well-structured systematized approach to teaching that emphasizes the fundamentals and development of each student.

However, Professor Henry’s teaching philosophy does not simply focus on winning competitions; rather, it places a strong emphasis on the importance of personal growth and development through the profound art of Jiu-Jitsu. He firmly believes that every individual has the potential to excel in Jiu-Jitsu, provided they find themselves in the right supportive environment, are taught the correct techniques and principles, and are genuinely willing to put in the hard work and dedication required to significantly improve their skills over time. Through this holistic approach, students can not only become better martial artists but also develop essential life skills that can benefit them beyond the mat.

When he is not training jiu-jitsu, Professor Henry enjoys spending time with his wife and sons -- and playing way too many video games.
