From the very beginning, she quickly advanced through the ranks and took on the challenge of competing, becoming a trailblazer and a pioneering force for young girls in the sport. During this time, there weren’t many girls participating in jiu jitsu, so she often found herself competing against boys. Her remarkable skills and dynamic performances earned her the nickname “adrena”LYN,” which perfectly encapsulated her explosive movements and boundless energy on the mat. Now, as a skilled blue belt, Joselyn plays an essential role in the jiu jitsu community by assisting with most of the kids' classes, as well as contributing to some of the adult classes. Roderic started his journey in training back in 2011. He was first introduced to the captivating world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) by his uncle Ric and his dad John, both of whom inspired him to pursue this martial art. He has developed a deep appreciation for the art of Jiu-Jitsu, drawn to its fascinating history, its practical applications for individuals of smaller stature, and the fact that it serves as an excellent way to achieve or maintain physical fitness. His goals as a coach are to effectively share and spread the art of Jiu-Jitsu, and in doing so, he recognizes the vital importance of creating a fun, engaging, and safe environment for all students to learn and grow. Another key objective for Rod is to serve as a positive role model for the next generation of practitioners. A fun and interesting fact about Rod is that his go-to karaoke song, which he loves to perform, is none other than "I Want it That Way" by the Backstreet Boys, showcasing his playful side.
