<image:caption>PROFESSOR HENRY IRIBE Classes Toddlers, Kids, Adults Professor Henry began his journey in the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu back in 2008, and over the years, he has achieved the esteemed rank of 1st degree black belt. He was not only dedicated to his own training but also played a vital role as one of the founding members of 1802 Jiu-Jitsu, which was initially known as Stronghold Rancho Bernardo. During its early days, the academy held classes at the local recreation center, where it fostered a strong sense of community and camaraderie among its members. Professor Henry has had tremendous and noteworthy success in the highly competitive BJJ competition scene. Over the years, he has posted impressive wins against several IBJJF World Champions, is recognized as a Pan Am Champion, and has medaled in just about every major IBJJF tournament in both the adult and master divisions, showcasing his remarkable skills and dedication. Additionally, he has played an instrumental role in creating numerous champions, both kids and adults, thanks in part to his technical expertise and a well-structured systematized approach to teaching that emphasizes the fundamentals and development of each student. However, Professor Henry’s teaching philosophy does not simply focus on winning competitions; rather, it places a strong emphasis on the importance of personal growth and development through the profound art of Jiu-Jitsu. He firmly believes that every individual has the potential to excel in Jiu-Jitsu, provided they find themselves in the right supportive environment, are taught the correct techniques and principles, and are genuinely willing to put in the hard work and dedication required to significantly improve their skills over time. Through this holistic approach, students can not only become better martial artists but also develop essential life skills that can benefit them beyond the mat. When he is not training jiu-jitsu, Professor Henry enjoys spending time with his wife and sons -- and playing way too many video games.</image:caption>

<image:caption>PROFESSOR DERRYCK ANDA Classes Kids and Adults Professor Derryck Anda is the co-founder and driving force behind 1802 Jiu-Jitsu, a thriving academy that has been positively shaping lives and fostering a sense of community since 2013. His journey in martial arts began in 2011 under the skilled tutelage of his brother-in-law and co-owner, Professor Richard Soriano. A pivotal opportunity arose when Professor Derryck's first professor extended a generous invitation to expand the art of Jiu-Jitsu to the North San Diego area, a formidable challenge that he embraced wholeheartedly and with enthusiasm. Balancing his deep passion for the art of Jiu-Jitsu with a demanding and rewarding career as a data engineer, Professor Derryck's unwavering dedication to building a strong and supportive foundation for both his family and the surrounding community remains steadfast. Alongside his loving wife and their enthusiastic children, he actively participates in training sessions at the academy, fostering not only personal growth but also a familial bond that strengthens the entire academy's atmosphere. A recent highlight of Professor Derryck's journey in martial arts is the significant attainment of his Black Belt under the esteemed Professor Henry Iribe. This milestone serves not only as a testament to his relentless pursuit of knowledge and skill but also as an inspiration to his students and peers in the Jiu-Jitsu community. Professor Derryck's inspiring vision for 1802 Jiu-Jitsu extends far beyond the traditional mat space. He aims to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where individuals of all ages and backgrounds can come together to develop essential qualities such as confidence, discipline, and resilience. By sharing the transformative power of Jiu-Jitsu with as many people as possible, he strives to foster a stronger and more connected community. His ultimate aspiration is to witness the entire Anda family achieve their Black Belts together, a moment that would undeniably solidify their legacy in the martial arts world for generations to come.</image:caption>
